Sam Coon
medium: Felt art
Samantha Coon is a self-taught fiber artist, working in both wet and needle felting since being introduced to felting in 2009 while living in mid-coast Maine.
Much of her inspiration comes from nature, particularly patterns, colors, shapes, and textures. She admires the sculptural qualities of wool. She uses roving and batting to create wall art, sculptures, jewelry, hats, and wearable felted garments and scarves that are nuno felted.
Along with working in her studio, she attends regional art shows, and regularly teaches needle and wet felting classes to both children and adults.
