After-School Art — Artworks

After-School Art for the 2026-2027 school year will kick-off on September 9th, 2026!

Thanks to our generous donors, After-School Art is free to children ages 7-13 and meets Wednesdays from 3:45-5:15pm.

Class capacity is 12 children. Register by calling 231.796.2420. Please note that if Big Rapids Public Schools close, After-School Art is canceled for that day.

We understand that things come up and life happens. If you are unable to make it to class after registering, we ask that you let us know so that we can give the spot to the next child.

September 9th, 2026

This is the first After School Art class of the school year! Students will learn about tessellations and create their own character to add to our classroom tessellation using markers and colored pencils.

September 16th, 2026

September 16th is Guacamole Day! Students will practice fine motor skills while learning about complimentary colors and textures to create their own paper guacamole ingredients.

September 23rd, 2026

Students will make their very own checkerboard, complete with game pieces, out of cardboard, paper, and glue! They’ll also learn about complimentary colors, and patterns.

September 30th, 2026

October 1st is International Music Day! This week, students will create a tambourine from everyday materials to make their own music!
