Artworks Standing Committees
Advocacy Committee
Meets monthly on the second Tuesday from 1:30pm to 2:30pm
The Advocacy Committee is established to advance the mission of Artworks by championing the arts and humanities as essential to the cultural, educational, and economic vitality of our region. The committee is charged with promoting visibility of the arts and humanities, advocating for sustainable public and private funding, and supporting equitable access for all members of the community. Through strategic engagement with policymakers, stakeholders, and partners, the committee works to inform and influence decisions that strengthen the long-term sustainability and impact of the arts and humanities for our community.
Board Development Committee
Meets monthly on the first Thursday from 1pm to 2pm
The Board Development Committee examines the composition of the Board to ensure it reflects the skills, expertise, and diversity needed to advance the organization’s mission. Based on its findings, the Committee recruits and nominates candidates for Board membership for consideration and approval by the full Board. In addition to recruitment and nominations, the Committee oversees a comprehensive onboarding process for new Board members to ensure they are well-informed and engaged in their roles from the outset. The Committee also works collaboratively with other Artworks committees and leadership to ensure that all committee activities and initiatives are aligned with and actively support the organization’s strategic plan.
Donor & Fund Development Committee
Meets monthly on the first wednesday from 12pm to 1pm
The Donor and Fund Development Committee advances the financial health, visibility, and long-term sustainability of Artworks through strategic fundraising, donor stewardship, and community engagement. Guided by the strategic plan, the committee cultivates relationships, grows philanthropic support, and aligns resources with Artworks’ mission, values, and long-range goals. The committee leads community relations efforts, supports donor cultivation and stewardship strategies, and manages the Patron of the Arts nomination and selection process, recognizing individuals whose generosity and leadership exemplify commitment to the arts and humanities. Through collaboration with staff, board, volunteers, and community partners, the committee expands funding streams and enhances donor experiences to ensure ongoing vitality and community impact.
Finance Committee
Meets monthly on the fourth friday from 4:30 to 5:30pm
The Finance Committee is charged with budget development and oversight including reporting all financial activity to the Board of Directors.
Programming Committee
meets monthly on the first friday from 2-3pm
The Programming Committee provides leadership and strategic guidance for arts and humanities programming at Artworks. As a hands-on committee, it coordinates the planning and development of exhibitions, collections, performances, lectures, workshops, and special events to ensure artistic excellence, cultural relevance, and alignment with the organization’s mission and strategic goals. Members assess program quality and diversity, advise on emerging trends, support partnerships, and promote accessibility and inclusion. Through collaborative stewardship and thoughtful input, the Committee shapes engaging, innovative programming that strengthens community connection and participation.
