Barbara Holmer

Barbara has been a botanical artist for over thirty years with an interest in depicting
edible plants as well as native plants of the forest and river habitats of mid-Michigan.
She works from life using graphite, colored pencil, and/or watercolor for her botanical
drawings and paintings.
Her work has been exhibited throughout the country including the 10th International
Exhibit of Botanical Art and Illustration at the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation.
One of her paintings is in the permanent collection at the Hunt Institute and numerous
paintings and drawings are in private collections.
For over twenty years, she has been teaching botanical art, natural science illustration,
and field sketching at the Flint Institute of Arts and the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center
with the hope that others will come to appreciate the beauty in nature that is close by.
