After her son passed away in 2005, Kenetha began attending North Central Michigan College at the age of 52. “I wanted to put my grief into something positive,” she says. “I had taken a class by a local artist teacher who conducted the class based on the book by Julia Cameron, Creating the Life of Your Dreams through Spirituality. So, I got to thinking, what is my dream?” She went on to practice photography commercially for ten years and taught a few classes throughout that time. 

She and her ex-husband divorced in 2009, as it was “no longer the positive institution it started out as.” Kenetha says, “Meeting my partner in clay in 2010 and commuting back and forth from Gaylord to Big Rapids for almost 2 years, I decided to relocate in the late fall of 2011 to the area.” She found that she enjoyed clay hand-building. Today, she is still perfecting her skills as a clay artist and sharing her works.
