Give from Your IRA with a Qualified Charitable Distribution
If you’re 70½ or older and have an IRA, a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) can be a tax-efficient way to support Artworks while meeting your charitable goals.
A QCD allows you to make a gift directly from your IRA to Artworks, an eligible nonprofit organization. When IRS requirements are met, the distribution may be excluded from your taxable income. A QCD may also count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the year.
For 2026, individuals may generally exclude up to $111,000 in qualifying QCDs from taxable income. The amount that qualifies depends on your individual circumstances and applicable tax rules.
Why Consider a QCD?
For many retirees, a QCD can be a tax-efficient way to support a favorite nonprofit while potentially reducing the amount of an IRA distribution included in taxable income.
Unlike a traditional charitable contribution, a qualifying QCD is generally excluded from taxable income rather than claimed as a charitable deduction. This can be especially valuable for donors who do not itemize deductions or who are looking for ways to manage their taxable income.
A QCD allows you to turn a portion of your IRA into meaningful support for Artworks.
How to Make a QCD to Artworks
Making a QCD to Artworks is simple:
Contact your financial advisor or IRA custodian and request a distribution directly from your IRA to Artworks.
Ensure the distribution is made directly to Artworks. To qualify as a QCD, the distribution generally must be made by the IRA trustee or custodian directly to an eligible charitable organization. It should not be made payable to you personally and then forwarded to Artworks.
Contact Artworks for the information your IRA custodian will need to direct your gift.
A QCD can be a meaningful way to support Artworks while potentially providing tax benefits. Please consult your financial or tax advisor to determine whether a QCD is appropriate for you.
Your Gift Can Make a Difference
A QCD can be more than a tax-planning strategy. It can be a meaningful way to turn retirement assets into support for a cause you care about. Your IRA helped you prepare for your future. A QCD can help you invest in the future of others.
